In a couple of days (May 1st) Marco and I will leave for our trip to Dakar, Senegal. Leaving probably from Hoogeveen, the Netherlands. Let's hope the weather permits our leaving...
Our first stop will be Pontoise, near Paris. At the end of the first day we try to reach the south of France. And the second day we try to reach Tanger, Morocco.
After that we go more down south, through the Western Sahara, Mauretania and finally Dakar, Senegal, where we hope to arrive on the 6th of May.
The idea started a couple of months ago. We were talking about where to go for a long flight. At a map at the office, the most southern city was Casablanca, Morocco. But then at a dinner with friends on September 3rd, 2007, Miriam asked a question "Why not further? something special, say Dakar". With this remark an idea that started off as a "is it possible?", was launched and kept us busy with preparations for a couple of months....
